Everything You Need To Know About Tinctures

There’s little doubt in my mind that you haven’t heard of tinctures in some capacity. As you’ve come across them or heard about them in passing, some questions may have arisen in your mind, such as what they are and what they can do.

What are tinctures?

At their base level, Tinctures are made by dissolving cannabis in a solvent (typically alcohol, glycerin, or avocado oil) then inserting the resulting combination into a safe container that won’t degrade over time. Typically, the packaging will also include a metered “dropper” for accurate and consistent dosing.

Due to the dropper and ease of consumption, tinctures are one of the best methods of consuming a precise dose of THC or CBD.

Tinctures are like cannabis concentrates as they both use solvents to release or extract THC or CBD from the base plant material. However, there’s one key difference. While cannabis concentrates typically have all of the solvents in the final product removed prior to consumption, tinctures do not. This may sound like a bad thing, but tinctures are actually bound chemically to the solvent that is used to produce them, and it is used as a carrier to get the medication into your system.

Tinctures can vary in strength and results depending on consumption and other factors. However, it is usually the quickest way to see fast-acting results.

How do you use tinctures?

There are three ways for you to ingest it. As we mentioned before, one of those is sublingual or under the tongue. Then there’s incorporating it with a food item or even as simple as just dropping it into your mouth.

The first method is the best if you’re looking to feel results quickly. Drop a usual dosage under your tongue, wait around 30 seconds, then swallow.

If that method isn’t your ideal strategy, you can try to digest it by dropping the dosage straight into your mouth and swallowing instead of under your tongue. This method will act like an edible and take just as long to feel the effects.

Lastly, you can drop your dose into the food or beverage you’re having and eat as originally planned. It will take around the same amount of time to see effects as dropping the dosage in your mouth, but the taste won’t be as strong.

What are the benefits?

One of the most significant benefits we’d like you to take away is tinctures’ convenience and discretion over other means of consuming cannabis. But other effects could prove just as important.

Such as:

● Faster effects and more prolonged duration

● Precise and careful dosing

● Simple and easy

● Fewer calories than traditional edibles
