THC Detox The Correct Way

As marijuana becomes more commonly prescribed, and eventually available for recreational use, there are still times when flushing THC from the body will be desired, and that’s where a THC detox comes in. Detoxing is the process of allowing the body to remove, or detoxify, the body of certain chemicals that may be present.

There are all sorts of reasons for wanting to detox, whether it’s because a new job application requires passing a test with no THC consumption detectable, or if you are moving to a state where it’s not legal, or you just want a tolerance break to reduce the built up resistance you’ve acquired.

How to THC Detox

The first step in detoxing is to stop consuming any product that has THC in it. For a THC detox to work that means nothing can be adding it to the system as your body flushes through the amount that was built up. This means no oils, edibles or smoking throughout the detox period. Slowing down consumption is entirely acceptable, but the detox cannot be complete until all usage has ceased.

THC is often packed into fat cells by the body, so to help speed up the process of detoxing you’ll want to start exercising a bit more seriously if you don’t already. The exercise will help break down the fat cells that are storing the THC and help to remove it from the body faster.

Along with more exercise, to help burn off that THC, eating a healthier diet will also assist in cleansing the body. Avoid foods with sugar, alcohol or an abundance of sodium. By switching over to a more natural diet high in proteins and fiber the body will thank you and it will purify itself in no time.

Drink more water and tea, as being hydrated helps the body clean itself, and the antioxidants in tea can give the body a boost for the immune system and remove what are known as free radicals (which are molecules with an unpaired electron – not those radical friends you love) that cause cell damage.

THC Detox Myths

While there are lots of detox drinks or other products on the market, their efficiency hasn’t been studied well enough to know for sure if they improve a THC detox or not. That’s not to say that they aren’t worth trying, but know that any claims being made by detox products should be taken with a grain of salt, and a healthy dose of skepticism.
